Kay's cracking caf A unique west cumbrian caf has been named one of the top 50
in the uk. Merienda in cockermouth features in the independent's best uk cafs
after judges were impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and long list of local
suppliers. "Seventy per cent of our produce is from the area and we are taking
part in the local produce festival in may.We are already planning a special menu
and really wanted to have everything made from local ingredients that week. "
Kay said they recently made some modifications to the menu following feedback
from their regular customers. "It is a bit different from what you would
normally expect.There is a lot of choice and you can add your own twist,"She
added. Typical examples include sandwiches, made from fresh bread from nearby
bryson's bakery, with two fillings and a locallyproduced chutney. Alternatively,
customers could opt for a jacket potato with fillings of their choice, or
